About West Lincoln Memorial Hospital
West Lincoln Memorial Hospital (WLMH) is a large community hospital providing exceptional health care services in a most cost-effective manner. Located in West Niagara along the busy QEW corridor, our Hospital serves approximately 65,000 residents in our catchment area covering Lincoln, West Lincoln, Grimsby and the eastern side (Fruitland Road) of Stoney Creek. WLMH is a 60 bed Hospital offering medical/surgical, obstetrical, complex continuing care, intensive care, emergency services as well as outpatient diagnostic and treatment services and has 370 employees.
In 2008-2009, WLMH had 113 credentialed Professional Staff, consisting of 46 Active Staff. The Active Staff is comprised of:
- Family Physicians: 29 on Active Staff
- Consultants: 2 Full-time Internal Medicine Specialists
1 Full-time and 2 Part-time General
- Surgeons: 2 Full-time Obstetricians
2 Radiologists
1 ENT Specialist
1 Physical Medicine Specialist
1 Orthopaedic Surgeon
3 Dental Surgeons
9 Midwives
2 RN's (Extended Class)
Full-time Anaesthesia coverage
Our Professional Staff plays a very active role in our hospital. Our current medical staff president is Dr. Matthew Noble Wohlgemut and vice president is Dr. Peter Samuels. The MAC is comprised of Dr. M. Gulamhussein, Chief of Emergency; Dr. T. Johnson, Chief of Surgery/Anaesthesia; Dr. N. Nwebube, Chief of Obstetrics/Gynaecology; and Dr. J. Woodland, Chief of Family Medicine.
Our Family Physicians are very active in our hospital, with 29 on active staff. They admit and care for patients while in hospital, and then follow them up after discharge. This provides continuity of care for the patients in our communities. Some play an active role in obstetrics, the Emergency Department and the Operating Room.
